SiteAssay vs Tellsign
Tellsign is the only product on this page doing the same job: find local businesses, audit them, score the opportunity and pitch from the finding. The disagreement is about how deep the audit has to be before the pitch is worth sending.
In one line
Same idea, different depth. The argument is over how much evidence a cold email needs behind it.
What Tellsign does better
- A head start, with the workflow in front of real agencies for longer
- Euro pricing and an established European focus
- A simpler product to learn, because it checks fewer things
- Lead and send allowances counted separately, which maps cleanly to how agencies budget
Published pricing: From €29/mo for 500 leads and 50 sends, up to €299/mo for 15,000 leads and 5,000 sends.
Tellsign alternative: when it is the right call
The pitch is only as good as the finding behind it, and a finding drawn from a handful of checks runs out of things to say by the third email.
Capability by capability
Every entry in the Tellsign column is taken from their own published pricing and feature pages on the date at the foot of this page. Where something is not part of their product, the row says that rather than implying it.
| Capability | SiteAssay | Tellsign |
|---|---|---|
| Local business discovery | Maps, open data and directories, per search | Yes, from maps data |
| Website audit behind each lead | Every check on the methodology page, across ten scored categories | Focused on performance, SEO, booking and advertising signals |
| Email deliverability: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, blacklists | Checked on every audit | Not part of the audit |
| Security exposure: leaked keys, open paths, TLS | Checked on every audit | Not part of the audit |
| AI search visibility | Scored on every audit | Not part of the audit |
| Scoring weighted to the service you sell | Yes, per workspace | Yes, this was their idea first |
| Confidence shown per finding | Yes, on every finding | Yes |
| Sending from your own mailbox | Yes, with every draft held for approval by default | Yes, with approval on the first message |
| Priced on | Searches and audits | Leads and sends |
Questions this raises
What is the real difference between SiteAssay and Tellsign?
Audit depth, and what that depth is for. Both find local businesses and pitch from a finding. Ours checks email deliverability, security exposure, TLS, DNS, accessibility and AI visibility on top of performance and SEO, which means there is a second and third thing to say when the first email gets no reply. Theirs is simpler to learn, and if performance and SEO are the only services you sell, that simplicity is worth something.
Do both send from my own inbox?
Yes. Both take the view that a cold email should leave from the mailbox that will receive the reply, so the sending reputation is yours and so is the conversation.
Which is better value?
They count leads and sends; we count searches and audits. Neither is a trick, they are just different cost drivers, and which works out cheaper depends on whether you audit a lot of businesses you never contact. The pricing page has the meters written out in full.
